HILLSIDE EXPERIENTIAL PROGRAMS
UConn provides HREIF with a $1,000,000 endowment that students deploy into live LP investments alongside institutional sponsors across the United States.
Students identify opportunities through network outreach, market screening, and off-market research across industrial, multifamily, and retail assets in the United States.
Analysts build financial models and stress-test return scenarios to evaluate risk-adjusted performance before any deal advances to committee.
Closed investments are monitored alongside GP sponsors, tracking performance, executing value-add strategy, and reporting results each semester.
Members explore real estate markets across the U.S. to identify promising cities and property types to invest in.
Once a deal comes in, we take a first look to decide if it's worth pursuing, reviewing basic returns and the track record of the deal's sponsor.
We dig a little deeper, running initial numbers and sharing our early findings with our Investment Committee for feedback.
If the deal clears Phase 1, we build a full financial model and put together a professional investment memo, just like the real thing.
We work closely with the deal sponsor and our advisors to verify all the details and make sure everything checks out before moving forward. Once approved, funds are wired and Hillside officially commits capital to the investment, making it real.
After closing, we stay on top of our investments, tracking performance and reporting back to the Investment Committee each semester.

Regular sessions with active CRE professionals give members direct exposure to how deals are structured and executed in practice.
On-site visits to TA Realty, Cushman & Wakefield, and Greystar provide firsthand insight into institutional real estate operations and career paths.
No specific major is required. We welcome students from any discipline. What matters is genuine curiosity about commercial real estate and the drive to learn.
Experience in Excel, finance, or quantitative coursework is a plus, not a requirement. We look for intellectual curiosity and willingness to build skills on the job.
Hillside is a tight-knit cohort by design. We expect every member to show up for teammates and take pride in the fund's collective work.
